Vermont’s Constitution Protects “Large Capacity” Magazines, Firearms Policy Coalition and Firearms Policy Foundation Argue in Important Brief Filed with the Vermont Supreme Court

Governor Phil Scott signed S.55 into law in a ceremony on the state house steps on April 11, 2018.
Exactly seven days later the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs joined other parties in a
lawsuit challenging the firearm magazine ban section of the law.  S.55 became law as Act 94.
The original filing document of the lawsuit is an attachment to this E-mail.
The lawsuit is working through the Vermont state court system and hopefully will soon be before
the Supreme Court of Vermont.  But, a criminal case emerged in Bennington County and the
article below is about the legal challenge(s) to the firearm magazine ban portion of Act 94.
