Official Statement Regarding Proposed Gun Legislation in Vermont

Gun Owners of Vermont strongly opposes any legislation that seeks to restrict the individual right of self-defense. Article Sixteen and the Second Amendment do not grant us the right to keep and bear arms, rather, they specifically forbid government intervention in that right. Policies which seek to disarm us in the name of safety can be construed as misguided at best, at worst, nefarious. More gun control -including imposing a waiting period on a constitutional right- in what is consistently one of the safest states in the nation is a solution in search of a problem and is the last thing Vermonter’s need right now.”
