There has been some misinformation in a couple of news articles this morning that should be addressed. NBC-5 and WCAX both reported that GoVT’s stated intent in encouraging towns to pass 2A / Article 16 Sanctuary Resolutions was to create litigation to protect gun rights. This statement is unequivocally FALSE and was NOT issued by anyone in GoVT.
Gun Owners of Vermont has been forthcoming from the start that these resolutions are purely symbolic and have no legal authority under Vermont’s preemption law (commonly known as The Dillon Rule.) We have reached out to both media outlets and asked for a correction. WCAX has pulled the story from their site and we have not yet heard back from NBC5.
