Press Release: Vermont Gunshop Project (1st Year)

The Gun Owners of Vermont is proud and honored to be a member of the Vermont Gun Shop Project, the one and only project of its kind in Vermont.

Together, with the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs and the Center for Health and Learning, we have distributed hundreds of posters and information about this worthy project.

This program is a successful, PROACTIVE way to help people in our community who are in need of assistance during times of stress and depression.

I want to allude to an analogy of what the Vermont Gun Shop Project is all about; what I call the “Vermont Way.”

The Vermont Way has a 225 year history of neighbors helping neighbors.

When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans little old Vermont with one of the smallest populations in the nation sent more food and clothing to the people of New Orleans than any other state in the union.

Just 5 years ago Hurricane Irene devastated Vermont. During that time Vermonters of all kinds came together and literally dug out of the mud and devastation of that terrible day.

Throughout the centuries there are literally thousands of examples of things like this in our wonderful state.

It’s about friends helping friends, and neighbors helping neighbors.

This is what the Vermont Gun Shop Project is all about.

In this program:

  • No one will judge you.
  • No one will seek to take away your rights under Article 16th of the Vermont Constitution.
  • We, the Gun Owners of Vermont, will be there for you and help in any way that we can.

As an example of this we will be hosting 2 workshops for the firearms community so we can learn how to help the people who are in need.

The 1st one will be on Sunday September 18th at the Rutland Country Club.

CANCELLED: The 2nd one will be Sunday September 25th at the Fairbanks Museum in St Johnsbury.
(A replacement training session is being coordinated in Southern Vermont)

We are asking the firearms community to volunteer for these workshops.

We, the Gun Owners of Vermont, are here for you in your time of need.
